MFTA Awards - Official Methodology

1. Award Categories Definition

Each award category is designed to recognize excellence across key areas of fintech innovation, regulation, technology, and impact. Categories are reviewed annually to ensure relevance to regional and global fintech trends.

2. Nomination Process

Open Nominations:
Companies, founders, and industry leaders may submit entries through the official MFTA Awards portal.

Eligibility Check:
The MFTA team verifies that each nomination meets:

  • Category criteria
  • Regional relevance
  • Compliance with regulatory norms

Nominations that do not meet eligibility standards are filtered out at this stage.

3. Shortlisting

A preliminary Review Committee evaluates all eligible submissions based on:

  • Innovation & originality
  • Market impact
  • Execution quality
  • Alignment with regional fintech priorities
  • Contribution to the MENA ecosystem

Scores from multiple reviewers are averaged to create a Top 3 shortlist (or Top 5 for broader categories).

4. Jury Panel Evaluation

A diverse jury comprising industry experts, regulators, founders, investors, and academics independently assesses the shortlisted nominees.

Evaluation criteria include:

  • Problem-solving effectiveness
  • Scalability and long-term sustainability
  • Regulatory readiness & governance
  • Customer experience and adoption metrics
  • Community impact

Each juror submits independent scores to ensure neutrality and reduce bias.

5. Scoring System

Each category follows a weighted scoring model, for example:

  • Innovation: 30%
  • Impact & Results: 30%
  • Execution Quality: 20%
  • Regulatory & Risk Alignment: 10%
  • Scalability: 10%

Scores are aggregated and audited by the MFTA Secretariat.

6. Final Winner Selection

The nominee with the highest verified total score is selected as the category winner.

MFTA does not influence jury decisions and does not alter juror scores.
All results are confidential & made by the external jury until publicly announced.
