Mastercard Launches AI-Powered Agent Pay in UAE

Pilot allows users to complete transactions, including cinema bookings, through AI agents marking Mastercard’s first launch outside the US

Mastercard has rolled out its AI-powered Agent Pay service in the UAE, completing its first international transaction and expanding the capabilities of agentic commerce beyond the United States.

During the pilot phase, Mastercard is partnering with Majid Al Futtaim, one of the region’s leading retail and leisure groups, along with fintech company Dataiera. Once fully deployed, Mastercard cardholders will be able to use their personal AI agent to search, explore and complete purchases using Agent Pay – including booking cinema tickets at VOX Cinemas.

Dimitrios Dosis, President for Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa at Mastercard, said:

“As AI becomes a trusted companion in people’s digital lives, payments must evolve to match its intelligence with integrity. Mastercard Agent Pay ensures that agentic commerce is built on transparency, consent and security, empowering consumers and businesses to engage confidently in this new era of commerce.”

Mastercard continues to support the UAE’s digital transformation and its wider adoption of secure AI-driven technologies. This includes the 2023 launch of the Center for Advanced AI and Cyber Technology in Dubai, established in partnership with the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office.
